Island County Sheriff Records Requests

The Island County Sheriff Records Unit handles requests for arrest reports, dispatch logs, and police files. In June 2024 the county switched to NextRequest as its public records platform. NextRequest tracks requests across multiple county departments. The portal sits at islandcountywa.nextrequest.com. To file a request, give your name, an email, a clear date range, and the records you want. Use plain words. Be as specific as you can.

Body-worn camera files have a tighter rule under RCW 42.56.240(14)(d). You must give the name of a person involved, a case number, the date and place, or the name of a deputy. Without one of those, the request will not move forward. Some criminal history is also held back under RCW 10.97 and RCW 10.97.130.

The sheriff sits at 101 NE Sixth Street in Coupeville. There are also offices in Freeland and on Camano Island.
